Tips, Tricks, and Corrections for Henrietta Quilt Pattern

Sometimes after completing a Splendid Speck quilt pattern, we find helpful tips or tricks that help with quilt construction along with the inevitable typo. Page 2

  • The Third Border and Solid Green fabric was listed as "1 1/4 yards". The correct amount is "1 yard".
  • The Background fabric was listed as "1 3/4 yards". The correct amount is "1 1/3 yards".

Page 3

  • Cutting for the Third Border / Solid Green had a duplicate cutting. The last cutting “(6) 2” x WOF” is a duplicate and unnecessary.

  • Step 7: “with the eight HSTs made in step 11.”  should read “with the eight HSTs made in step 6.”.

Page 7

  • After step 18, we added a tip and trick: "The outside of the ribbon border, once pieced, is all bias and will stretch. To limit the stretch, consider stay-stitching 1/8” along the long sides of the ribbon border before attaching to the side borders. When attaching the ribbon borders to the side borders, it is important to find the half and quarter point of each border and pin."
  • Step 20 has been corrected. It should read, "Make the third border by sewing (6) 2” x WOF strips together end to end. Cut (2) 60.5” x 2” strips and sew to the left and right sides of the quilt. Press to border. Cut (2) 55.5” x 2” strips and attach to the top and bottom of the quilt top. Press to border.”
